ATV ends its run with reruns of Miss Asia
But for the soon-to-expire broadcaster ATV, it decided to just air reruns of two Miss Asia Pageants in its final hours.
According to South China Morning Post, ATV's broadcast is set to end on 1 April at 11.59 pm as its TV license expires, following its failure to renew it within the given time.
The company, which had been functioning without fail since 1957 under the name Redifussion Television, will now end its 59-year-old reign with the last few hours showing nothing more than two old shows.
Grace Cheung, one of the many Miss Asia that ATV produced over the years, stated that she will be watching the pageant reruns with other ex-employees, although her own experience with the company has been bittersweet.
"I will miss ATV. It was my first job after graduating from school. But the station had no productions to offer," she said.
Grace also believed that it may be the best time for the company to end its run, so that others, newer rivals with fresh new take on the TV industry, will be able to flourish.
