Disney will hold an open casting call for “High School Musical 4” via its Disney Applause mobile app. From April 18 to May 2, interested actors, singers and dancers between ages 14 and 17 can use the app to participate in video auditions.
Directed and choreographed by Jeffrey Hornaday (“Teen Beach,” “Teen Beach 2”), the fourth installment in the “High School Musical” franchise will introduce a new cohort of East High Wildcats. Dan Berendsen and Peter Barsocchini will write the screenplay.
Syfy will broadcast live from San Diego Comic-Con 2016. Airing on the cabler between July 21 and 23, the three-night special will offer viewers a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the high-profile convention with celebrity interviews, breaking news updates, panel coverage, exclusive film sneak peeks, party intel and more. The live telecast will coincide with Syfy’s 7 Days of Comic-Con multiplatform event, which runs from July 17 to 23.
AXS TV is joining forces with The Asylum, the production company behind the “Sharknado” franchise, to produce “Elvis Lives!,” the cabler’s first TV movie. Currently in pre-production, the conspiracy thriller will bring the long-standing “Elvis is still alive” conspiracy to the small screen. David Garber will produce the movie alongside alongside The Asylum’s Paul Bales, David Michael Latt and David Rimawi.
