Twitter Tributes Pour In To ‘Genius’ Prince Who Has Died Aged 57
And the tributes were quick to roll in from fellow stars who had worked with, been friends with or even just admired the Purple Rain hit-maker.
Princes’s publicist confirmed he had passed away late Thursday afternoon at his home in Paisley Park, suburban Minneapolis.
The news came just days after Prince suffered a medical emergency that forced his private jet to make an emergency landing in Illinois.
Fellow musician Nile Rodgers led the way in paying homage to the seven-time Grammy winner.
He tweeted “#RIP our dearly beloved #Prince. Tears and love on our tour bus… I’ll never forget my brother. We’ve had #good times.”
Rapper Lupe Fiasco then wrote: “In Minneapolis right now…and it’s raining… Prince…”
Meanwhile singer Lily Allen said: “PRINCE . You legend. Rest In Peace.”
KISS Singer Gene Simmons wrote: “PRINCE, sad to say, has passed on!!! He was a Giant. My deep condolences go out to his family, friends and fans.
And pop giant Katy Perry also offered her condolences.

His most recent album HITnRUN: Phase Two was released in December 2015, and he had been on tour in the US as recently as last week. He was also in the process of writing an untitled autobiography which was set to be published in 2017.
His UK publicist said on Thursday night: “It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57.
“There are no further details as to the cause of death at this time.”
