Taiwanese actress Annie Yi recently shared her honest thoughts about pregnancy with her fans on Mother's Day, and admitted that she has had her worries when she found out that she was pregnant with a daughter.

As reported on Liberty Times, the actress, who came from a very patriarchal family, stated that she was looked down upon by her own mother since she could not uphold the family name by being a daughter, and was pressured to give birth to a son since her first pregnancy.

She admitted that she made a huge effort in trying to conceive a son the first time around - drinking deer antler soup, undergoing acupuncture, consuming Chinese medicine, and even making offerings at the temple.

Annie later gave birth to her first son Harrison, her only child with former husband Harlem Yu.

She also confessed that she was anxious about not being pregnant with a son again in her second pregnancy, this time with actor husband Qin Hao.

Annie said she asked her husband if he would mind the fact that their daughter will have to adopt her husband's surname in the future, and Qin's answer had given her reassurance about her own fear.

According to the actress, Qin told her that bloodline is more precious than surname and that the fact that their daughter has their genes is more important than the surname Qin.
