World Cup WAGs party until early hours in St Petersburg on eve of big England match

The wives and girlfriends of England’s World Cup players partied until dawn on the eve of the team’s final group match.

With husbands and boyfriends tucked up in bed in advance of tomorrow’s encounter with Belgium, their other halves celebrated with a glamorous girls’ night out.

Led by Jamie Vardy’s wife Rebekah, the WAGs, including Millie Savage (John Stones’ partner), Gemma Acton (Gary Cahill), Megan Davison (Jordan Pickford), Annabelle Peyton (Jack Butland), Fern Hawkins (Harry Maguire), Shannon Horlock (Nick Pope), Annie Kilner (Kyle Walker) and Lucia Loi (Marcus Rashford), posed for their own “team picture” outside the SunDay Ginza beachside restaurant.

Social media posts showed them laughing as they sipped on chilled glasses of white wine against the backdrop of a luxury marina, then puffing on hookah pipes as the celebrations continued.

Signature dishes include dorado fillet wrapped in banana leaves and flat pappardelle noodles with shrimp and fresh pesto.

Both Rebekah Vardy and Fern Hawkins shared snaps on Instagram of the group tucking into desserts including strawberry cheesecake and chocolate pudding with ice cream.

Glasses of fizz were also spotted on the table of the restaurant, where a bottle of Cristal costs 8,353 rubles (around £100).

Mother of four Rebekah, 36,was one of the last women standing, posting an Instagram snap of the sun rising over St Petersburg at 3.56am.

Last night’s party was the first time the current team’s partners have been seen on the town since the World Cup began.

Their relatively low-key presence has drawn favourable contrast with the antics of the WAGs in Baden Baden during Germany 2006, a media circus which threatened to overshadow the team’s performance.
