Who are the previous Love Island winners and are they still together?

Tonight's episode of Love Island is sure to be a bittersweet one.

On the one hand, we finally get to see which loved-up couple will walk out of the villa victorious.

On the other, we have to face a future where Love Island isn't a daily feature on our TV screens.

The winning couple will scoop a £50,000 prize - usually split between the two - and from then on is destined for a life of sporadic TV appearances and adverts for teeth whiteners.

We take a look back at previous couples who have won the show, if they've stayed together and what this year's winners could learn from them.

Series 1: Jessica Hayes, 24 and Max Morley, 25

Series1 of Love Island kicked off in 2015 as a reboot of Celebrity Love Island, which aired on ITV2 in 2005 and 2006.

Max, 25 and Jessica, 24, fell head-over-hills in the Mediterranean villa and were the first couple to scoop the prize.

But, as they say, summer doesn't last forever and the pair split up six weeks after leaving the villa.

Jessica decided to pursue her modelling career whilst Max, for whom one cringe-worthy reality show clearly wasn't enough, appeared on MTV's Ex on the Beach last year. He also lists himself as a model on his Instagram account.

WHAT THIS YEAR'S WINNERS COULD LEARN FROM THEM: If at first you don't succeed on one seedy reality show, try, try again.

Series 2: Cara De La Hoyde, 27 and Nathan Massey, 25

Cara, 27 and Nathan, 25 walked out of the villa hand-in-hand in 2016 after quite the romance.

But alas, the relationship between circus performer Cara and carpenter Nathan wasn't to last, and the pair broke up the following year.

But in true Love Island style, there was a plot twist when Cara announced she was pregnant with Nathan's baby a month after the split.
They got back together shortly before the birth of their baby, Freddie-George, and there was even talks of marriage.

In an interview with OK! magazine, Nathan said: "We've got much stronger. Fred has brought us closer together."

WHAT THIS YEAR'S WINNER COULD LEARN FROM THEM: Love does last outside the villa - even with its own tests.

Series 3: Kem Cetinay, 22 and Amber Davies, 21

Kem and Amber were the people's favourite and walked away from Love Island victorious.

Unfortunately, the Love Island curse struck once again and they announced their mutual split last December.

A source told The Sun: "They've been at each other's necks for the past month. They've been living on top of each other and clashed over the smallest things.

"It's also been very hard to see each other with their hectic schedules. They tried to make it work but realised they want different things and being together was too tough."

WHAT THIS YEAR'S WINNERS COULD LEARN FROM THEM: There is such a thing as having teeth too white.
